The Cooperativa Agricola Brisighellese was born of an idea of 16 wine growers in long-ago 1962. In 1971 the company also boasts an oil press and carries out the first milling. The Cooperativa arose to promote the local production of wines and olive oil.

The production zone is in Italy, in the region of Emilia Romagna, province of Ravenna, in the City of Brisighella; mostly along the slope of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines along the Valley of the Lamone River.

The Cooperativa unites nearly all the wine growers (currently numbering 575) with an average overall production of approximately 100,000 quintals (10,000 tons) of grapes and about 300 olive growers who cultivate about 70,000 olive trees.

Over the past decade the company has gone from a standard selection of grapes to a higher quality, resulting in wines that are sold both in bulk and bottled in the retail outlet located in the plant.

Even the production of extra virgin olive oil has increased in importance over time, to the point that as early as 1975 the cooperative promoted the initiative to offer a precise identification of type and origins of their extra virgin olive oils.

In addition to attributing a specific denomination to its own products, it also numbered the bottles and analytically guaranteed the quality, which is outstanding thanks to the particular patrimony of aromas and fragrances attained from the type of olives that yields less oil and the masterful cold-pressing process carried out in the company press.

Since 1996 the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) has been attributed to the extra virgin olive oil produced from the Nostrana (local) variety of olives, the first oil in Italy to receive this recognition.
